Super Eagles of Nigeria lose to Uganda on Vicent Enyeama 100 Caps

Nigeria Super eagles yesterday night loss to Uganda in a friendly match at home in the new Akwa Ibom International Stadium.

Eagles was beaten 1-0 by Uganda, to crash Enyeama 100th cap party, outclass Daniel Amokachi's tactics in uyo.

Vincent Enyeama won his 100th cap for Nigeria but was breached once again in Uyo, this time by Farouk Miya's 82nd Minute deflected shot in the International Friendly against the Cranes of Uganda on Wednesday.

It was Uganda's 4th win against Nigeria, giving them an edge on head to head (4-1-3).

Daniel Amokachi's team showed very little cohesion for most part of the game and got punished for it in the second-half.

Sredojevic's side were worthy opponents on the night as they held the Eagles with the in-form Triumvirate of Odion Ihgalo, Anthony Ujah and Ahmed Musa at bay.

The Uganda Coach said "It was a game where we hope to learn a thing  or two ahead of the AFCON nad World Cup qualifiers.

A disappointing result by all standards considering Uganda are ranked 74th in the latest FIFA Ranking.

Meanwhile, the Nigerua goalie Vincent Eyeama is one match away from equaling Joseph Yobo's 101; but the first goal tender to achieve it interesting.

"I want to thank Nigerians and all those who've supported my career with the Eagles, it was a disappointing result but football is football anyway and that's how it pans out sometime.

"I've got 100 caps now but at some point i must leave to concentrate om my club football, I'II discuss my future plans with the Coaches," Enyeama revealed.

Nigeria will now be facing Bafana Bafana in the second friendly lined up by the Football Federation.

Football Legend Thierry Henry Admits Henderson has Proven him Wrong After Doubts Over Talent

Former Arsenal striker and Legend Thierry Henry has admitted he underestimated the talent of Liverpol's Jordan Henderson.
FC Barcelona v Manchester City - UEFA Champions League Round of 16
Speaking to The Sun, Henry admitted that he didn't expect Henderson to make it at a top four club because of supposed limited ability. However, the Frenchman is now a supporter of the Liverpool vice captain because of his work ethic and overall influence on the team in the last few months.
            Embedded image permalink
He ever said that Henderson reminds him of his former France team-mate Lilian Thuram, because of the way he works for his team.

Henry said: "There were times when I thought Jordan Henderson was not a 'Liverpool' player and would not become the midfielder he was hoping to be.

"I don't think I'm alone in saying this. I did have some major doubts. There was a concern he was not quite good enough to play at the very highest level, but the transformation in his game has been truly unbelievable.

"He has become an animal in Liverpool's midfield, I mean in a good way. He wants to work. He wants to deliver for his team. He wants to score goals., He wants to become the player he dreamed of."

Henderson was on the losing side on Sunday as Manchester United beat the Reds 2-1 at Anfield.

Akinfenwa backs Balotelli to be a "success" at Liverpool

Mario Balotelli has endured a tough Premier League come back, but AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa believes that he will be a "success" at Liverpool.
Someone is actually backing Balotelli to be a Liverpool hit
The Italian joined the Reds from AC Milan last summer in a £16m deal, with replacing sold striker Luis Suarez his major aim according to reports.

However, 'Balo' has appeared out of his depth back in England - he had played for Machester City before- and has been linked with a move away from the club this summer amied suggetions manager Brendan Rodgers has lost faith in him.

But Akinfenwa - a cult hero of the modern game thanks to his physical stature- believes that Balotelli will come good for Liverpool, the team he supports, if given time.

"I think it has been tough for Balotelli to come to Liverpool. I think that Balotelli has got a style of play and I think Liverpool has a different style of play." He is quoted by the London Evening Standard.

"Brendan Rodgers knew how Balotelli plays and you are asking him to play a different way, and as a footballer a manager should do their research to play with somebody strength, don't try to focus his weaknesses. I think it is the reason why it has been difficult but it takes time.

"I hope he stays, I want him to stay because I think he is a good person, football needs characters like him so I hope he becomes a success and I am glad he scored recently to get off the mark. I just think it's been tough and he didn't realise how tough it would be.

"But he is a proffessional, he's been at all the top clubs in the world so he will get through it and I am sure it will be a success."

Warri Wolves forward dedicates debut goals to late dad

It was a dream Glo Premier League debut for Warri Wolves forward, Sikiru Alimi Adewale, whose double and all-round display helped the Seasiders to  their first points of the season in their humiliation of Giwa FC on Wednesday.

The former Union Bank of Lagos forward was obviously not overwhelmed by the occasion of playing in Nigeria's top flight division for the first time as he made the difference in the battle between last season's third and fourth-placed teams at the Warri City Stadium.

A well articulated assist for Gbolahan Salami, an emphatic close-range strike before the break and a composed finish after the hour mark aptly summarized Adewale's impressive performance.

Adewale who joined Wolves from First Bank of Lagos at the end of last football season was as excited as the just over 1,000 fans that witnessed the rescheduled Match Day 2 game in Warri. in a post-match chat with npfl.ng Adewale also dedicated his pair of goals to his late dad.

"Honestly, he was my best motivator. He tired everything to make sure I played football as a professional but  right now he's no more. I wish he would be around to share this glory with me because I know he would be very proud of me,"said an emotional Adewale.

Adewale's adaptation to life in the top flight started with a stellar showing at the Glo Super Four Invitational where he scored three goals in as many starts. The striker was however quick to point out that the quality in the top flight quite exceeds what he was used to in National League.

"There's a huge quality in the NPFL compared to the lower leagues. (There are) tough opponents and very good players and you have to up your game to be able to cope. I think there's a big difference there," he affirmed.

At Wolves, Adewale is in a fierce competition for places with renowned scorers like Gbolahan Salami, Ogehenekaro Etebo and Onyekachi Okafor but the Nigerian navy product is unfazed by the challenge.

"Although it will be difficult because these are experienced players and of course I'm also learning from them but I'm very confident I can hold my own against them. They've been supportive and I know I have to take my chances when they come like did today," he said.

What a way for Adewale's league adventure to start and if his early season form is anything to go by, a new goal poacher and fans favourite may just have been unearthed.

British Nigerian Boxer Larry Ekundayo knocks out Dale Evans in 5th Round

The iconic York Hall in East London was the venue and Dale Evans was the opposition to shoot at the British title. The Nigeria's Ekundayo stepped in the ring in an all-important British title eliminator against hard hitting and highly ranked British tough man Dale Evans.

The fight was billed Ultimate glory the perfect title for such an important night in Larry's career. After dealing with a tough time out of the ring, the boxer was keen to let fans and commentators know why he is highly rated in the boxing world and more importantly get back on track towards his ultimate dream of becoming a world champion one day.

With both fighters in with a chance of challenging for higher honours, the importance of a win here in front of a sold out East London crowd can't be overstated. Covered in Nigerian colours (Green and White), you would have thought Larry was the British fighter with the amount of Ekundayo T-shirt wearing fans in the arena and more importantly the applause he received from the fans on his entrance. Coming out under a beaming spotlight and huge smoke filling the walk path, Larry walked in to the York Hall to Kanye West's "Jesus Walks" bouncing along with a look of a man who meant business and had only one job to do on the night which is to put away his opponent on the night.

Once the bout was announced and instructions handed out to the fighters by the referee, the tension and excitement grew in the air with both sets fans jeering the opposition. After the ball rang, Larry burst out sets of the blocks with confident jabs at Dale Evans putting a stamp on the fight early and setting a tone for the match with Dale instantly finding it hard to hit his target. The early rounds clearly went to Larry as he displayed his superior boxing abilities, with an array of jabs, feet movement and clear points scoring punches to fans screaming chants of "Larry Larry Larry".

Dale attempted to change his in ring plan finding his way slightly back into the fight in the third round catching Larry with a few shots and trying to make the ring smaller ensuring an ever elusive Ekundayo found it tough to get away from his clutches.

During the break after the third round, world welter weight contender Ajose Olusegun who was in the Ekundayo's camp was seen speaking to Larry in addition to the coaches input clearly asking Larry to step it up a notch leaving room for Dale Evans to regain confidence and get back into the fight. The fourth round was a case of Larry getting back to his best bits controlling the match, picking his shots at will and evading Dale Evans with his quick feet movements reminiscent of Sugar Ray Leonard.

After the fourth round Dale Evans had started to tire and Larry's barrage of punches and combinations had started to flow easily leading to clean shot which fell Dale to the canvas in the fifth round. Dale took a standing count and was allowed to carry on to the crowds excitement and noise, sensing Dale was stuned, tired and a bit out of sorts Larry pounced with more combinations with no response from Dale Evans, the ref jumped in and stopped the fight in the fifth round.

The former African footballer who is worth over $100million, said he had gone in search of a watch worth over $15, 000 but said the shop assistant looked at them suspiciously and reluctantly allowed them to view the watches.

"I want to go buy a watch at a jewelers, not too far from my house. The watch I wanted to see was expensive. I asked the saleswoman - who was also black- "could you show me that watch please?' First, I saw her turn to her co-workers like, "Uh, what should I do?" Eventually, she let me see the watch. I looked at it and said, "OK, I'II buy it. "I took out my credit card and when she went to go run it through the machine, she came back and said it was declined."

Eto'o, who is the 7th-richest footballer currently playing, said he asked her:" Was it declined or did you not want it to be accepted?"

"My brother asked, "What is going on?" And she said, "Nothing nothing. "But he said, "No, because when I came in, I saw how all of you were looking at us... My brother can afford this and the way you're treating him shows that you think just because he's black, he can't afford this watch."

"The woman then slipped up and said, 'No, it's just that we had some Nigerians in the store the other day who came in with fake credit cards. I don't know if you can imagine the weight of what she said. If one of my own makes a mistake, they judge us all. I don't think she's a racist person, but she stereotyped all black people as 'those people'."

But it was seems to be the night for the Jose Mourinho's men as Silva canceled out is penalty error by nodding home the equalizer to draw PSG level on the night and gave his team advantage of securing a place in the last eight on away goals rule.

In the other match of the night between Bayer Munich and Shakhtar Donestk ended in rush of goals has Bayern Munich hammered 10-man Shakhtar by 7-0 at home to reach last eight.
