FIFA U20WC: Senegal keeper Saves 3 Penalties to put his side into Q/Finals

Ibrahima Sy saved three penalties as Senegal won a dramatic shootout against Ukraine to reach the last eight at New Zealand 2015.

     

This memorable climax came about after the sides were locked at 1-1 by the end of normal and extra time, with Artem Biesiedin’s well-worked opener in Auckland having been cancelled out by a late Sidy Sarr leveller. 

Fly Eagles of Nigeria beat host Senegal to win 19th edition of African Youth Championship

The Nigerian Under-20 team, who are regular called flying eagles came through a strong huddle against Senegal in the 2015 19th edition of AYC final to became  the champion for the 7th time.

           

Senegal started the match with lot of high tempo and creating some good opportunities but they were not unable to capitalize on the spaces afforded them by the flying eagles before the Nigerians took the justice into the hands by creating a wonderful atmosphere in Senegal, when they score a beautiful goal through Bernard Bulbwa's with a world class control and finishing into the top hand corner of the Senegalese goal.

The host struggled to get a foothold on the game but the Nigerians were up to the task and should have made more use of the space afforded them by the Senegalese team pushed forward in search of an equalizer but their lack of experience and composure came to play.

The Nigeria flying eagles held in at long last to win the 19th edition of the youth tournament and would now set their sights on the under 20 World Cup in NewZealand  later in the year, June/ July precisely.  

AYC: Flying Eagles of Nigeria beat host Senegal to kick start tournament on high Notes

The Manu Garba's led Nigeria U-20 Team has defeated the African Youth Championship host Senegal 3-1 in their opening match.
               
Striker Taiwo Awoniyi's brace set the Flying Eagles in front in the first 11 minutes of the encounter, played at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor, Dakar Senegal on Sunday.

The Eagles double there lead when Ifeanyi Matthew slotted home the third goal of the game, but Senegal Sidy Sarr pulled one back for the hosts but wasn't enough for them to pull a scare for the Nigeria side.

The Electrifying Nigeria team now top Group A with three points and will play Congo in their next match on Wednesday, at the same Venue.      

West Ham fine £71,000 by FIFA over Diafra Sakho Withdrew from Senegal Squad

West Ham United have been fined and reprimanded by FIFA after they played Diafara Sakho in an FA Cup win, he withdrew from Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Sakho scored the only goal and secure them a 1-0 victory at Ashto Gate but the World football governing body (FIFA) opened an investigation to see if they had breached rules over international duty.

The Hammers denied any wrong doing but could have faced expulsion from the FA Cup if they were found guilty.

FIFA rules say a player cannnot appear for a club if he was meant to be on international duty and they released a statement on Wednesday confirming the fine.

It stated and i quote: ' The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has found the club and player to have violated art. 5 of Annexe 1 of the Regulations in relation to the match played by Sakho on 25 January 2015. The club has been fined CHF 100,000 in accordance with art. 10 c) and art. 15 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC) and issued with a reprimand, while the player has been sanctioned with reprimand in accordance with art. 10 b) and art. 14 of the FDC.

West Ham insisted the player had a back injury that prevented him from flying and claim he was driven to Ashton Gate in limousine for the FA Cup tie. They requested FIFA dismiss the case.

Bristol City have now release a statement over the £71,000 FIFA fine to the Hammers for including Shkho in the match.

The League one club feels disappointed, and they have this to say about the lenient fine to West Ham. The statement on their website state's: "Bristol City FC notes FIFA's decision with regards to the Disciplinary Committee's case against West Ham United and their player Diafra Sakho.

"The club is disappointed with the penalty handed down by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and is considering its options. " The club will be marking no further comment at this time."

The reports also said that, the Hammers (West Ham) has also issued a brief statement following FIFA's decision.
'The club and the player have received the decision and will now be focusing their concentration on the game against Manchester United on Sunday,' it read.
