David Bentley to join the Philadelphia Eagles as a kicker next Season

According to reports footballfancast.com this morning from the USA, former Tottenham, Blackburn and Arsenal star David Bentley will join the Philadelphia Eagles as a kicker next season after a series of successful training sessions with the NFL franchise.
             Media preview
The ex-England Midfielder, who once moved to White Hart Lane for £15million, retired from football last summer at the age of just 29, citing how the spot had become too driven by social media and corporate sponsorship, leaving it "predictable and a bit too calculated."

In a surprise press conference held at Lincoln Financial Field last night - The Eagles" stadium- Bentley revealed: "Everybody knows the real reason I retired from football is because of all the running around you have to do, especially in training.

"Running in the wind was not only tiring, but also extremely detrimental to may hair modelling career - which is now going very well, by the way.

"So when I discovered Kickers in the NFL spend hardly anytime on the pitch but can earn anything between $450,000 and $4,500,00 per season, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for me.

"But I am quite worried about my hair under those helmets," the Peterborough-born former winger added.
"Me and Benoit Assou-Ekottto are looking into gels specifically designed to helment hair. If it becomes a problem, I might have quit."

Bentley then signed a two-year contract worth $500,000 per-annum in front of Eagles owner Jeffery Luire, head coach Chip Kelly and the assembled press.

Matic suspension reduced, but still misses League Cup final clash against Tottenham

Chelsea Midfielder Namanja Matic suspension has been reduced, but he still misses League Cup final against Tottenham. Chelsea FC has appalled with the English FA's decision on Matic

The London blues play the League Cup final against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, and they'II be doing it without one of their best players. While the FA has opted to reduce Matic's suspension for violent conduct, he's still suspended for two games in all competitions, meaning he won't play at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The Serbia was shown a straight red card for an incident involving Burnley's Ashley Barnes on Saturday. Barnes caught Matic high up with his studs and Matic reacted by shoving Barnes to ground. Barnes was not booked fir his part in the incident, and referee Matin Aktkinson has been given a week off from Premier League officiating for his poor call.

Of course, a small reduction in suspension for Matic, coupled with the lack of discipline for Barnes, has Chelsea annoyed.

According to reports, Their release states that "it is Chelsea's opinion that referees and the football authorities must do more to protect players at all levels of the from dangerous challenges."And while on one disagrees with that, Matic did, after all, shove Barnes to the ground during a non-footballing incident. That's a red card and three-games or more, but there's not more of a case for eliminating Matic's suspension altogether. What he did was violet conduct, by the letter of the law.

Ultimately, the biggest beneficiary from all this is Tottenham, who will be thrilled to face a Chelsea side that doesn't include their star defensive midfielder. The blues are still going to be favorites to lift the cup, but Spurs' chances of springing an upset just got a lot better with the confirmation that Matic will miss the match.
