Cote d'Ivore players rewarded € 46,000 each and a house for winning AFCON

President Alassane Ouattara hosted the 2015 Africa champions at his Presidential palace in Abidjan on Tuesday, to reward their successful continental campaign.
                       
Each player was granted a house with a value of € 46,000 as well as the same amount in cash, while Elephants' coach Herve Renard received more than € 114,000 for leading the country to African glory.

"You managed to rebuild a strong team working as one towards one goal - winning and winning more. It's a lesson in rallying people together," President Ouattarra told the Frenchman.

Furthermore, the entire squad was made Knight of the National Order, with veterans Copa Barry, Siaka Tiene, Kolo and Yaya Toure and coach Renard being elevated to the rank of Officer of the National Order.

As for the Ivoririan Football Federation, they were granted € 380,000, while the Elephants' technical and administrative staff enjoyed  € 460,000 to share.

Atsu wins Afcon 2015 Best Player

Ghana winger Christian Atsu has been adjudged the best player of the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations after an impressive showing in Equatorial Guinea.
                     
The Chelsea-owned, Everton loanee player won the best player of the tournament as well as the best goal of the competition.

The former Porto player was instrumental for the Black Stars on the flanks although his exploits could not earn the four-time African champions the trophy.

Ghana lost 9-8 on penalties against the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the final in Bata on last night.

23-years-old Atsu will be returning to his base a more confident winger after a wonderful campaign in the 2015 Africa football showpiece.

AFCON 2015: Ivorian edge Ghana on Penalties to win the 30th Afcon Edition

Ivory Coast defeated Ghana 9-8 on penalties to win the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea . The ivorian has now won the Tournament twice 1992 and 2015.
                       
The match was sent into penalty shoot-out after 120 minutes of scoreless draw, the Elephants however ended their 23-years title drought with the magic touch of coach Harvey Renard.
                       
He has now become the first ever coach to win the African Cup of Nations with two different nations.

The first he won was back in 2012 with the Chipolopolo of Zambia and has now written his name in the history of AFCON.

Ghana set up a show down with Ivory Coast in Final after beating Host Nation Equatorial Guinea

The 1982 winner Black Stars of Ghana have made it to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations after beating Equatorial Guinea 3-0 in the semi final on Thursday night.
                           
Ghanaian took the lead late in the first half through Jordan Ayew penalty in the 42 minutes and added another inside five minutes by Mubarak Wakaso to extend their lead and giving them hope of wining the tie.

The Equatorial Guinea team where still in the race of turning things round in the second half, but it wasn't to be their night has Andre Ayew's 75 minute goal seal up the victory for Avram Grants men.
                           
Andre Ayew's goal was the big blow that hit the Equatorial Guinea fans as the Ghanaian fans were forced off the stands which saw the match halted for several minutes.

Ghana will now face Ivory Coast in the final on Sunday.

    

AFCON 2015: Tunisia face Banned from 2017 edition

Tunisia may be banned from the next Africa Cup of Nations after they refused to apologize to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for accusing the confederation of cheating.
                         
The North African Nation made allegations after conceding a controversial stoppage-time penalty in a 2-1 loss to AFCON 2015 host Equatorial Guinea in the quarter-finals of the ongoing tournament.

Ultimatum by CAF

The Tunisians had been given until Thursday by CAF to say sorry of face a ban from the 2017 AFCON edition.

According to how BBC Sports reported, after a meeting on Wednesday, the Tunisian FA refused to apologize the spokesman saying the team had "suffered scandalous injustice from referees."

Referee 

The Confederation of African Football which fined Tunisia after players confronted referee Rajindraparsad Seechurn after the final whistle, had wanted the 2004 champions to apologize for insinuations of bias and lack of ethics against CAF and its officials, or to present evidence to substantiate their accusations. Now it look like they are going to be banned by CAF from participating in the 2017 edition.

AFCON 2015: Ivory Coast Trash DR Congo to Cruise into Final

The Elephants of Cote d'voire are through to the final of the on-going 2015 African Cup of nations after defeating Democratic republic of Congo in the Semi final by 3-1.

Captain Yaya Toure put the Ivory Coast in front, with a power long-range shot, but in the 24 min Mbokani Bezua penalty leveled things up for the Leopards of Congo after Eric Bailly was the culprits to have handled in the box.

The Ivorians made sure of victory when Wilfried Kanon kneed home after Serge Aurier's header had been saved to seal the game.

Ivory Coast now have a chance of wining the African cup of nations once again since 1992 when they won it last, but will have to settle the scores between the winner of the second semi final game to be played later today Thursday around 8 pm.

The match will be between 1982 Champions Ghana and the current host nation Equatorial Guinea.

AFCON 2015: Referee Seechurn Rajindrapasard Suspended with the host Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), have meted out a heavy suspension on referee Seechurn Rajindrapasard, who was in charge of the quarter-final match between AFCON host Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia, at the ongoing competition and the teams involved respectively.

                         

Tunisians were on their way to qualify for the last four after taking a 1-0 lead, but Rajindrapasard awarded the hosts a controversial 92nd minute penalty, which saw them draw level. Equatorial Guinea eventually went on to win the match in extra time.

According to the statement released on CAF’s website read on Tuesday: ''At its extraordinary meeting held at the CAF headquarters In Bata, Equatorial Guinea on the 2nd February, 2015, the CAF Referees Committee reviewed the performance of the referee Seechurn Rajindrapasard (Mauritius) during Match No. 26, Tunisia vs. Equatorial Guinea played on 31 January 2015 in Bata in the final tournament of the 2015 Orange Africa Cup of Nations.

“The Referees Committee noted with regret the poor performance of the referee during the match, including an unacceptable failure to maintain calm and ensure proper control of the players during the match.

''Hence the Referees Committee decided:

– To end the mission of Seechurn Rajindrapasard as a referee for the Orange AFCON 2015

– To suspend him for a period of six (6) months for poor performance

– To delist him from the CAF “A” Elite Referees panel.''

The African football principal body frowned at the conduct of Tunisians after the match and have also been heavily billed for their deeds. Meanwhile, host Equatorial Guinea were fined $5000 over fans invasion.
